Biomarkers
Detected and measured
Biomarkers are molecules that can be detected and measured in parts of the body like the blood, urine or tissue. They may indicate either normal or diseased processes in the body. Biomarkers can be specific cells, molecules, DNA, RNA, protein, enzymes, or hormones.
RNA biomarkers
Caldera Health has identified a proprietary group of RNA biomarkers that exhibit relative changes in the level of expression in subjects with prostate cancer compared to healthy prostate tissue. The choice to include multiple RNA biomarkers was made because no single biomarker can capture the heterogeneity present in prostate cancer as evidenced by the performance of the PSA test.
